Has anyone fitted 'foot boards'?

I mean, like the ones below.
I am going to try one of these (I think? Any other suggestions?)
The reason is that I like to control the bike by tipping onto the balls of my foot (I am used to sports bikes).
On this bike, to avoid my calves rubbing on the silly features of the fairing, I'd have to put the arch of my foot on the peg, which means I end up having to lean forward slightly to brace, and also less bike control.
Anyone considered this? It's no sports bike. Maybe better with a 'cruiser' style foot board?
