It's back together and all is working as normal on a short ride at 50% charge.

I will charge it up and a longer ride tomorrow. This seems to have been the original problem, I will report in the thread with the original failure mode.

Btw.: did you use the Loctite AA326 stuff at last?

I did, and I used the recommended activator to scrub down the aluminum (low reactivity metal) side before applying it, with a coarse kitchen sponge. The activator is acetone based, so cleans as well as leaves an activated surface behind prepped for the glue. (Information sheet says to use it on low activity metals like aluminum, but the nickel plate on the magnets doesn't need it.)

As I was away for a while anyway, I left it in my warm living room for over a week, and monitored the tackiness of the over-spill. At a guess, the 72hr cure time it recommends to achieve 100%, in the information leaflet, was probably about right.

Once even the over-spill was solid, I figured the glue under the magnets was fully cured. It did take several days, actually.

My 'glue man' offered it in 5ml and 10ml bottles (50ml is the standard sold). I barely used 1ml for all 6 magnets (two slots). If you can obtain 5ml, I's say that is enough for up to 6 magnet slots.

Well, That's sad. A noise has started in the motor. I could feel it when riding. 'Clack clack clack'. I have to guess a magnet came loose.

The motor still running, no errors showing.

I should have it open again by lunch time tomorrow. I want my bike back. I like riding it.

Maybe the Loctite AA326 stuff is the same that Musk uses to glue his Cybertruck together

The magnets actively pull themselves into the slot as they align with the magnets next to them, so I am wondering if that squeezed out too much glue.

I had wondered whether to lift the magnets somehow to create more volume underneath but I decided that the curvature of the rim already allowed for this. I might have to reconsider this.

I'll be on the job after a coffee ....

I am not looking forward to the mess I might find in there, but I guess the motor is still working normally, so I have to presume for now it is repairable.

I'm pleased to say this problem is repairable, and it was not really foreseeable so I don't feel bad about it.

I'll let you have a look and tell me what you see.

I'm still inspecting the photos. I like to take photos and then go for more coffee, study them. Sometimes it is not quite what you first see.
