Thanks for the post, and none of those particular things scare me, apart from the prospect of getting a lot of very bad cells.

I would test them all, individually. It would take a long time, but maybe worth it. I would charge and discharge each one of 288 cells to ensure I can balance up the cells nicely so that they are matched in stages and in strings.

I was looking at a 600A BMS.

These individual cells have screw mounts, so I can cut strips of copper to connect the ends of the strings.

It's occurred to me that with 32700 cells, they could be stood vertically for around 250mm high and packed 8 rows deep, so each vertical block would fit vertically, with 10 such blocks fitting in the length.

'In theory'.

I would have to think about how to make parallel strings of cells safe, by which I mean if one goes bad then it can short circuit the rest of the battery, so I presume I have to connect the strings via fuse wire so that they can blow safely if that happens and not be part of the pack any more.

It would definitely not be a small task, but if it were a successful outcome then it would be a better pack and a satisfying result.
