Pusa/Lipo battery new charger

Beitrag von Bradaru2001 »

Hello everyone,

I am planing to buy a new charger for my EFUN PUSA. Do you know if it is posible to charge the 72v40ah battery via the anderson plug? Also, does it support 20A charger?

Thank you

Hello,

obvoiusly Your battery looks like this:

Due to recuperation mode the battery should also accept charging via Anderson 50 connector,
but safest way will be the charging port.

Normally a scooter battery cell shoud tollerate up to 0.33 C or 0.5 C charging current (depends on cell quality).
In my view a charging current up to 15 Amps should be the best solution for a 40Ah battery.

Thank you Didi for your help and for the links. The reason I asked is because I ordered a new battery of 72v95ah that charges over the Anderson plug so I bought a 72v20A charger also. The old 72v40ah batterie is marketed as catl cells which should be able to charge at max 1C. What I don't know is if the BMS is able to protect the batteries if I charge in the Anderson port also.

Do you know what bms is in the Pusa battery? At least if it is with one port for charge/discharge or two separate ports. I want to know if I charge via the discharge port does the bms protects for overcharging.

Thank you all

Hello,

the charging socket in the battary case only makes sense, if there is a charging port BMS inside.
Bild

A charging port BMS is able to close (cut off) charging port C- while chargig and is also able to close (cut off) dischargig port P- (Anderson 50) while discharging. There are separate FETs at charging port and at discharging port, to cut off the line. In recuperation mode of PUSA/LIPO there will be charge current on discharging port (Anderson 50) for a moment, but probably no cut off possibility, if a cell reaches maximum voltage.
The motor controller should activate recuperation mode only below 90% of highest battery voltage, to cause no problems. If You use a charger on dischare port, it may work on the normal way. But (to be on the safe side) You should use lower limit of maximum chargig voltage (f. ex. 0.1 Ohm power resistant 50W in line), to have secure chargig stop. However if a cell reaches the limit, there may be an acustic alarm by the BMS. Additionaly there will be cut off of charging port (without function), but the discharging port will probably stay open.

regards
Didi
