Torque Settings / Drehmoment Tabelle

Introduction;

I have not seen anyone collect torque settings together, and I suggest we do this for e-Odin.

We may or may not know what they are (if you do, please share).

My suggestion is that we use a torque setting that other motorcycles typically use, try that.

If it loosens, then it wasn't enough!

If it is difficult to remove later, it was too tight!

If we explain later in the text why we used it, we can have a discussion, maybe improve the table over time.

I will edit it, if I notice or you drop me a PM. If you think a setting is too high or too low, please do let me know, these are what I am setting my bike to.

(Settings as used on members bikes; use your own judgement when using this table on your own bike.)

Fork clamp bolts _______________________ 23 Nm
Front Caliper bracket __________________ 38 Nm
Rear Caliper bracket ___________________ 28 Nm
Brake disc ____________________________ 23 Nm
Main axle nut _________________________ 110 Nm
Locking axle nut _______________________ 80 Nm
Axle location screw (M6) ________________ 12 Nm
Controller electrical terminals (M6) _______ 5 Nm
Hub motor cover plate screws (M5) _______ 5 Nm

Not otherwise stated (settings not tested on specific parts, use your own judgement):
M5, all metal parts _____________________ 4 Nm
M6, all metal parts _____________________ 10 Nm
M8, all metal parts _____________________ 18 Nm
M5, with plastic parts ___________________ 1 Nm

Most bike brake discs are around 12 to 18Nm. When I used 18Nm it seemed too little. The disc that I had not moved seemed to be more than 18 Nm.

Caliper mounts are usually high, I went for 38 Nm, this is normal.

The lower fork bolts were looser than 23 Nm. I had not touched these, but when I tightened them they must have been only 15 Nm or so. I put on about half a turn to bring them to 23 Nm.

Seems I can't edit the table.

I offer the following revisions.

While testing accel and regen on centre stand I realised the rear axle nut had worked loose from 110Nm, I have set to 125Nm and will monitor the axle*. Also added the spec I have been using for front axle, and 80Nm seems fine, putting 90Nm for engineering margin.

*(I think the partial threading, with flats either side, mean the thread does not tension like a regular thread and needs more torque. But, how much before deforming the threads?)

Front caliper bolts did not need to be 38Nm, I've been using 28Nm and they are fine, actually tighten up over time with heat cycles and, I guess, some rusting going on down there.

Hub motor cover plate screws (M5) _______ 5 Nm
