Tinbot F8 stuck on N( neutral)

Beitrag von Bradaru2001 »

Hello guys,

Did any of you had this issue. When I started the scooter I could no longer change the gear to D/S. I almost never used the side stand, and the scooter was not recently in water or rain. I drive it daily.

Any idea what should I check?

Many thanks!

Hello Alin!

In my opinion there are three possible causes:

One is the side stand. I would snap it out and then in again to make sure it is completely snapped in. I had a similar problem once, and the cause was that the side stand was still down from "in" position by about 1cm.

The second is the brake switch. My F8 switched from N to D when I applied and then released one of the brakes. In case the switch here doesn't provide contact, the scooter won't switch to D. Did you try the other brake handle to switch the scooter to D? If you tried both brake handles without result, in my opinion you can rule out this cause because it is very unlikely that both brake switches fail simultaneously.

Finally there is one thing I encountered with another electric scooter. It was the kill switch. My F8 didn't seem to have a kill switch, but I'm not sure if this applies to all F8s produced over the years. If applied, the kill switch will keep the scooter in N and cause exactly this behavior. So, I would probably try to change the position of all switches which I don't know the function of to see if one of these might act as a kill switch.

If none of these helps, I fear that the problem is not solvable without measurements and deeper understanding. Unfortunately, my own F8 is in the workshop for a longer time right now, so I can't take reference measurements for you to see which voltage should be where.

However, I wish you good luck in resolving the problem!

Best regards
Rolf
