Yeah, it depends how you have got to your half way.
When I did range tests in the early days I realised that if you are cruising slow at 50kph and get into the 3rd bar, you have about 3 miles before 'shutdown'.
But recently I had my second ever battery-dying event and this time it had only just dropped from 5 bars to 4. The difference had been that I had been doing a number of intermediate charges (so, no recent cell balancing) and I was calling higher demands on the cells.
It just takes one cell .. the lowest one, in fact!!! ..... to dip to an unacceptable level and this happens whenever the cells are a bit imbalanced and you are calling for high current demands.
Do some full charges, and leave for a day, let the BMS sort the pack out, but, yeah, once you are dipping into 'bar 4' then it's best to assume your range is all done for.
I have recently installed a direct voltage read straight from the battery, and the confidence level in it is so much higher.
