deadropine,
Purely out of curiosity, I tried to disconnect the on-board computer (VCU). To my surprise, Tronox Mino continued to work, but the dashboard stopped displaying: speed, battery charge, battery temperature, distance, side stand condition (P), ready to move (READY), time. But otherwise everything works: if side stand is out, the throttle is blocked; if you fold a side stand, press the READY button and the throttle is activated; press the READY button again, the throttle is blocked; the turn signals work and are displayed on the dashboard; the emergency light works and is displayed on the dashboard; the speed switch works and is displayed on the dashboard; the low/high beam are switched. In short, you can drive without VCU at all, if you have a GPS speedometer/odometer and voltmeter.
So, you can test controller settings without VCU.

UntiI now I have never disconnected the VCU. I think you just have to pull out the plug. The VCU is located on the right side of the bike beneath the plastic cover. It seams like there is some kind of sealant which you would have to remove. Did you do that? If you push back the small lid of the VCU there is a tiny switch which will switch of the VCU. Maybe that will also work. I have reprogrammed the LINGBO Controller and increased the maximum RPM to 3000. It was set at 2250 RPM. If you calculate the theoretical speed with 2250 RPM you get a value of 47 km/h. With 3000 RPM you get 63 km/h. Unfortunately somehow the VCU is responsible for the speed limitation, so nothing happened. I will give it a try and see what happens when the VCU is disabled.

I tried that but it did not work. In my opinion it only works for certain controllers. The description found very often in the web is for special controllers where a speed limit can be set independently without a switch. They are also using a different LINGBO software version.
I just unplugged the VCU and took a ride. The bike did not drive any faster (GPS) although I changed some parameters.
Like vlad_vy said, the display does not show the speed and battery status. Somehow it seems like I cannot get access to the right controller parameters with the Lingbo Software. I think only Tromox or the distributor can help.
